Oxford ready to welcome their BIG new baby to the neighbourhood

“There’s a whole new superfresh world coming to Waterfall, and Oxford can’t wait to welcome you.”

The imported Italian terrazzo tiles are being polished, the giant R1.4 million digital screen is operational, the racking, chillers and freezers are being installed and soon the stock will start rolling in as the Oxford team puts the finishing touches to their eagerly awaited new store in the Link Hills Centre.

Waterfall residents have been abuzz since the news broke that Oxford would be opening a flagship Freshmarket and Liquormarket store in the area, and it seems that the waiting is at last nearly over, with the official opening set for the end of April.

With 4 000m2 of trading space, Waterfall will be Oxford’s largest store yet, offering shoppers an outstanding array of the freshest locally-sourced fruit and veg and an in-house bakery, along with the world-class, Cleaver Awards-nominated butchery that is the foundation of the Oxford brand. A hugely expanded grocery range in wide, easy-to-navigate aisles will allow customers to shop their everyday essentials and must-have luxuries at their leisure while enjoying the shop-and-go convenience of FREE parking on 2 levels.

Expanding footprint, expanding opportunities, expanding your Rand

Since its inception in 2012, the Oxford promise has been “…only the quality beats the price”, and this commitment to providing superior quality at prices that make any household budget go further is just as strong today. As Durbanites feel the economic pinch, Oxford’s expanding footprint is good news, with more shoppers standing to benefit from great deals every day of the week (most notably at the Famous Tuesday Sale), with the soon-to- be launched Oxford Rewards card offering further savings and cash back opportunities.

The opening of Oxford Waterfall will be followed by the family-owned business’s expansion onto the South Coast with ground already broken at the site of the new Amanzimtoti superfreshmarket. This brings a wealth of opportunity in the community with the creation of 250 locally-sourced jobs in the Waterfall store and an anticipated additional 350 when the Toti store opens in 2024.

Connected with the community

As an independent family-focused retailer, supporting community organisations and initiatives has always been at the heart of the Oxford business, with Waterfall and its environs being no exception. The company has come on board as the club sponsor of Forest Hills Football Club in a three-year deal while Link Road residents will soon notice that their commute or school run getting a little smoother as Oxford works with the local municipality to address the ongoing pothole problem on this road.

Brett Latimer, owner and CEO sums up the team’s excitement about ‘moving in’ to their new neighbourhood: “We really can’t wait to bring the ‘Oxford experience’ to the doorstep of Waterfall residents. It’s a unique combination of real quality, and genuine value for money along with a friendly service ethic that I believe is truly unique to any retailer.  As we move towards our 11th year as a proudly KZN, deeply Durban operation, myself, my business partner and Oxford MD Paul Beltramo and the entire Oxford team would like to extend a warm invitation to the people of Waterfall to come and visit us in our new home. If you’re a long-standing member of the Oxford family, I promise you’ll find more of what you love; if you’re a first time Oxford shopper, you won’t believe what’s in store for you!”
