Sunshine, coffee, heavenly eats and inspiring people best sums up Hero777’s Life in a Teacup fundraiser held in celebration of organ and tissue awareness month. While guests tucked into a delightful harvest table, local singbird Belinda Dolphin entertained. This was followed by the powerful stories of incredible people whose lives have been transformed by organ transplants. They included Praveena Vather who has lived 25 years post-heart transplant and is one of only eight people worldwide to have a baby after her transplant, Janet Legemaate – the mother of Matthew, the seventh person to have a heart and double lung transplant in Africa and the third to survive the operation, and transplant coordinator of 22 years, Cindy Goldie. All money raised during the event, held at 1000 Hills Chef School, will go towards the extension of the Circle of Life Memorial Garden for donor angels in the Durban Botanic Gardens.
