The Durban Holocaust & Genocide Centre recently hosted the launch of its More Important than Life: The Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto exhibition. Opened during the centre’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration, and running until the end of March, the exhibition highlights the extraordinary courage of a secret group of academics, writers and activists who risked everything to document daily life and unimaginable hardships inside the Warsaw Ghetto. Their hidden archive preserves personal accounts and artefacts, offering a powerful local Jewish perspective. Guests at the launch enjoyed a scrumptious tea at the Circle Café – and yes, their famous cheesecake lives up to its reputation! A must-see for anyone interested in history and the human spirit.
