Books & Books welcomed Cape Town author and former journalist Penny Haw to the newly relocated Durban North Library for an afternoon tea and Meet the Author event celebrating the library’s new premises. Penny, who spent more than three decades writing for leading South African newspapers and magazines, shared the stories and research behind her historical fiction. Her books bring remarkable women from history to life, including pioneering astronomer Caroline Herschel, the central figure in her latest book, The Woman and Her Stars. Penny’s work shines a light on courageous, independent women who challenged convention. She is also the recipient of the 2024 Philida Literary Award, which recognises her body of literary work.
