If you think you know Sorisha, think again.
Yes, she’s glamorous, confident and cool-headed as one of the stars of The Real Housewives of Durban, and yes, she’s built a wellness empire while balancing her life as a mom, wife, entrepreneur and media personality – but there’s so much more to her than what you see on screen.
We caught up with Sorisha to chat about family rituals, unusual skincare habits, her inner introvert, and why she’s swapped Botox for hugging trees…
1. She has a seriously quirky beauty routine
Forget fancy facials – Sorisha swears by something you’ve probably never heard of: “knuckle and washer” treatments. “Every morning after brushing my teeth, I use my knuckles to massage my face with almond or olive oil. Just five minutes on half the face. I’ve been doing it for two years now and I think it really helps with keeping the skin tight.”
2. She’s an introvert at heart
You’d never guess it from her on-screen confidence, but Sorisha is most content curled up on the couch, tea in hand, dogs nearby and kids within reach. “I’m super introverted. Going to a function takes every ounce of energy from me! My husband Viv is the opposite – he thrives on socialising, but I’m happiest at home with the kids and fur babies.”
3. Her family has a daily meeting
“Every evening at 7pm we have family meetings,” she laughs. “Viv works late, so we catch up on everything from school updates to silly debates about what we find annoying in each other. It’s a way for us to stay connected and make time for each other in the madness of life.” The family even has a WhatsApp group called My Family, where Viv sets the nightly agenda.
4. She’s a tree-hugger. Literally.
To stay grounded – mentally and emotionally – Sorisha turns to nature. “I walk barefoot on the grass, watch the sunset, and hug trees. I know it sounds odd, but trees carry wisdom. I believe they hold energy from the past and can guide us if we take a moment to listen.” She also sun-gazes, practises deep breathing, and avoids rushing through life. “I used to be overwhelmed. Now I just focus on the present.”
5. She was a tomboy DJ before the pageants
Long before TV, beauty titles and boardrooms, Sorisha was a red-haired Rhodes student who loved drama, debating, and DJing at The Vic. “I was a tomboy in torn jeans when someone asked me to enter Miss India SA. I said, ‘Are you talking to me?’” she laughs. “But I entered and I won – and I think it was because I nailed the questions. Pageants are all about how quick you are on your feet.”
