SHE MEANS BUSNESS: Celesté Peyper – Vilèste Couture

Celesté Peyper was born and raised in Gauteng. She is the owner of Vilèste Couture and found her way to the City of Roses back in 2008. Celeste is happily married to Vincent and together they have two children, Brendan and Elizna.

Celesté describes herself as a morning person as she gets up at 05:00 to go to the gym. “My husband is my best friend and we enjoy each other’s company. I enjoy a good Merlot and will indulge in a glass most evenings. I have a handful of good friends and their company – even only over a cup of coffee – tends to prepare and fortify me for the challenging week schedule ahead,” she says.

She started her business in 2014, offering sewing classes and training. “The business grew steadily into doing alterations and repairs on clothing. Numerous requests for formal dresses started the manufacturing on a small scale and my husband also started an embroidery business during that time,” she says.

She adds that they saw a demand for rental of evening gowns and closed the sewing classes department to fully focus on their boutique that rented, sold and manufactured formal evening wear, and mostly matric farewell dresses in 2015.

Celesté further mentions that with the outbreak of the pandemic, they saw a demand for suit rentals as well as styling and this led to them starting their suit rental business. “These two functions obviously complement each other tremendously,” she says.

According to her, Vilèste Couture realises and understands its shortcomings, but continually strives to be that one-stop shop that goes the extra mile, to have a happy and satisfied client at the end of the process.

At Vilèste Couture they have an in-house designer, qualified tailors, stylists and dressmakers, to offer the full package of refined products and upscaled service.

“We offer alterations on all types of garments, curtains, and most items manufactured in fabric, and with the right people on board and continuous training whilst moving with the trends, we strive to offer quality work and customer satisfaction,” says Celeste.

Yearly, they manufacture between 40 to 46 matric farewell dresses and are usually fully booked by March.
