As the co-owner and managing director of Emoya Spa, Ria-Lize embodies women’s empowerment, leading an all-female team that’s pushing boundaries in the beauty and wellness industry.
In the heart of Bloemfontein lies a peaceful retreat, Emoya Spa, known as a place where luxury meets tranquillity, and behind its thriving success is a woman who means business. Since 2015, Ria-Lize has been the driving force behind its success, turning the spa into one of the city’s premier wellness destinations.
Her journey into the spa world began after her husband launched the Basotho Lodge at Emoya Estate in 2010, and the spa then followed in 2015, where Rialize stepped in as a manager. “I initially stepped in to assist with managerial challenges and marketing. Over time, my involvement grew, leading me to acquire shares and fully embrace my role as co-owner,” she mentioned.
With over 14 years in hospitality and somatology, Ria-Lize says her everyday motivation comes from the joy of offering services that relaxes and rejuvenates clients – something she views not only as a luxury but a necessity in today’s fast-paced world. “Leading an all-woman team empowers me,” she says. “It gives me the opportunity to uplift others and create a positive, supportive work environment.”
Her willingness to persevere through all challenges is what defines her as a woman who means business. “I give my all to any venture I undertake and never give up until my goals are achieved. Business, to me, is about problem-solving and creative thinking.”
Finding the right balance between her busy schedule and family time is something she prioritises. “I prioritise moments of reflection, like watching the sunset. Sundays are my day to unwind and spend time with loved ones,” she mentioned.
She also finds joy in cooking and entertaining, trying out new recipes for friends and family. And when she’s not in the kitchen, she’s on the road with her husband, exploring new destinations and soaking up inspiration.
As a child, Ria-Lize always dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur – she saw herself as a real estate agent or running a clothing store that empowers women. Today, those dreams are evident in the way she runs her business, with vision, heart, and the unwavering belief that women can uplift others while building their own empire.
