Sally Joubert empowers others while balancing motherhood and careers in higher education, food safety and rugby development, inspiring purpose in every role she fulfils.
As the Coordinator for Work-Integrated Learning and Industry Liaison at the Central University of Technology, Free State, in Bloemfontein, she keeps purpose at the centre of what she does.
“A true passion for seeing people discover their potential and develop their skills inspires me every day. Knowing that something I do can positively impact someone’s life is what motivates me most,” she says.
Sally balances motherhood, marriage and three careers. It takes careful planning, but she would not have it any other way, as each role gives her a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
From student placements and coordinating food safety initiatives in rural areas to off-field rugby player development for the Cheetahs, her days are fast-paced, while family, faith and connection keep her grounded.
She credits her husband for his unwavering support and encouragement, allowing her to pursue every opportunity with confidence. Her parents instilled in her the resilience and work ethic that continue to shape her career. She is grateful to her in-laws for always stepping in with a helping hand when needed, and to her brother for being someone she can always count on for honest advice.
A job she once disliked became a turning point, teaching her to trust God. “Success follows passion.”
Through the Tshireletso Ka Thuto Food Safety Initiative, she has empowered more than 2,800 informal traders, SMEs and spaza shop owners with food safety knowledge, helping businesses improve compliance, protect consumers and create sustainable livelihoods.
Sally encourages young women to trust their passion, be open to ideas and find whatever makes them feel the sun from the inside.
For her, recharging means heels, champagne and family time.
