Butlers Bar & Restaurant now has a distinctive Grand Bar, and together with a group of lucky guests, we got to enjoy the magnificent opening.
Slap bang in the heart of Hillcrest – 24 Old Main Road to be exact – in that big round building with those gorgeous chandeliers that you just can’t miss as you drive past, this venue has an upmarket, classy but relaxed vibe. There’s live music once a week, a Whiskey Club, Sunday lunches in the courtyard or Date Night al-fresco dinners under the fairy lights. For a special event … there’s also a 10-seater cocktail table for champagne, whiskey tasting or larger dinner bookings in the new Grand Bar – perfect for smaller weddings, conferences or even baby showers.
DRINK THIS … Champagne, cocktails and sparkling wine, from entry level to the classier Moët and GH Mumm champagnes are definitely the order of the day. The new bar also offers high-end whiskeys and gins as well as beer on tap including their very own Butlers Beer.
ORDER THIS … Strawberry Daiquiris and Wild Berry Mojito’s are a definite favourite, followed closely by Long Island Ice Tea, Pina colada, Cosmopolitan and Margaritas.
EAT THIS ….
The venue’s head chef is Siphiwo Dandala – a top achiever in the Unilever Chef of the Year countrywide and a man who knows how to please a multitude of palates. On the menu you’ll find delicious meals from pizzas, pastas, curries, famous BBQ Pork Ribs and Crispy Pork Belly to a 1kg Tomahawk steak, prawns and satisfying vegan and vegetarian options.
