We’ve discovered a fabulous app that’s revolutionizing the way tuck-shops and schools operate and it provides moms with just that little bit more time to get on with the endless list of day-to-day chores.

TapTuc, an all-in-one freely downloadable app (available for both iOS and Android), allows parents to pay for healthy meals at their child’s school tuck shop, for school events, uniforms, stationery and more! And since we’re still in back-to-school mode, and on a mission to support better health for our kids, especially when it comes to what they eat, this is our go-to app!

Established to empower parents and schools to deliver healthy happy meals for learners, and allowing parents to connect with the school directly, the TapTuck app is a cashless shopping game changer … one that removes the need for children to carry money to school, which also means no more rushing off (for parents) to get cash for school lunches or other essentials at the last minute, and it’s incredibly easy to use.

Using it, you can also order and pay for uniforms, stationery, electronics and more; receive school event notifications and make school payments and, this one we love the most … you can order and pay for healthy meals at the tuck shop.

Because the app has also been designed to help tuck shop convenors with planning, preparing and ensuring every child is seen to before the lunch break is over, a recipe book was developed and handed out to schools, to ensure that children are receiving healthy meals. Because, after all, healthy eating definitely makes a difference and by schools ensuring that children eat healthy, it’s then established and becomes a life skill.

So how does the app work?

1. Parents can download the app on their cellphones.
2. They then register their child or children as well as take a photograph of the child which will be uploaded and used (when it comes to redeeming tuckboxes).
3. The parent will then scan the QR-code on the attached TapTuck token to link it to their child’s profile.
4. Deposit money into your TapTuck wallet using a credit card or make an EFT payment.
5. Follow the prompts to place your order.
6. The tuck shop convenor will then scan the QR-code on the TapTuck token to identify the child and redeem the meal.
