Khwezi Development … bridging the gap for 21 years

When you combine heart and dedication to upskilling South Africa’s unemployed, then connect a workforce-ready talent pool with businesses, and help businesses tick all the Skills Development Act boxes, you must be dealing with Khwezi Development.

For the past 21 years, this multi-pronged approach has been creating value-added solutions for Khwezi Development clients while also upskilling the local youth and students through Khwezi Development’s learnership programmes.

Established in the Upper Highway by local businesswoman Tracy Klokie, Khwezi Development ensures that all elements of legal compliance for business clients are met in terms of skills development, employment equity, POPI compliance, human resources, industrial relations, labour law, outsourced payroll solutions, and B-BBEE compliance.

“Through extensive specialist partnerships and expert experience, our company offers a unique source to facilitate all aspects of these compliance areas,” emphasises Tracy, who says Khwezi Development is an accredited training provider with several Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), and with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation (QCTO).

“We ensure that all the legal and legislative requirements are met efficiently so our business clients can stay focused on the income-generating activities of their companies.”

With a database of disabled and unemployed students who meet all requirements for literacy and numeracy, and are job-ready, Khwezi Development can effectively help businesses meet their Employment Equity and B-BBEE targets, including employing people with disabilities.

“Khwezi aligns with the transformative vision of the Skills Development Act, which seeks to enhance the skills base of the unemployed youth in our community, promote employability, and stimulate economic growth. By implementing targeted training programmes and fostering partnerships with businesses and communities, Khwezi actively contributes to the Act’s objectives,” says Tracy.

“Our efforts are designed to not only upskill and prepare individuals for employment, but also to uplift communities through sustainable skill enhancement, ensuring compliance with national standards, while addressing the unique needs of South Africa’s evolving labour market.”

Tracy affirms that Khwezi is committed to equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic workforce, and that it is accredited with the following learnership training programmes:

  • SETA Business Administration NQF Level 2 & 4
  • Generic Management NQF Level 4
  • CETA Supervision of Construction Processes NQF Level 4
  • QCTO Cloud Administrator NQF 4
  • Data Science Practitioner NQF 5
  • Store Person NQF Level 2
  • Dispatching & Receiving Clerk NQF Level 3
  • Retail Sales Advisor NQF Level 3
  • Office Supervisor NQF 5

“To enrol in our training programmes candidates typically need to meet specific criteria including a minimum educational background (matric) relevant to the programmes, have a keen interest in personal and professional growth, and a commitment to completing the course requirements. Our programmes are presented through a combination of methods to ensure accessibility and effectiveness. These include classroom-based learning, online modules, hands-on practical sessions, and mentorship opportunities,” says Tracy.

Upon successful completion of a programme, a candidate receives a Certificate of Completion and may also qualify for accredited credentials, depending on the course.

“We pride ourselves on fostering collaboration between our learnership training programme graduates and our business clients. By placing skilled graduates with our clients, we bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, enabling businesses to thrive with a competent and prepared workforce.”

Tracy says this partnership benefits both parties as their learners gain valuable, real-world experience and career advancement opportunities, while their clients benefit from increased productivity and innovative perspectives.

“Khwezi Development remains committed to supporting this synergy by facilitating communication, encouraging post-placement support and ensuring continuous development for lasting success.”

To conclude Tracy says, “In today’s economic climate we are thrilled to celebrate 21 years in business and are deeply grateful for our clients’ support. Our growth and success stem from our unwavering commitment to superior ethics and standards.”

A HEARTFELT MISSION
OF UPLIFTMENT

Hearts in Hands NPO, the passion project of Tracy Klokie, is celebrating five incredible years of making a difference.

What started as a heartfelt mission during lockdown has now grown into a beacon of hope for the community. Initially focusing on food relief during Covid, the NPO quickly expanded its vision in alignment with Khwezi’s belief in empowering the youth. Recognising that education is the foundation for a brighter future, Hearts in Hands turned its attention to Early Childhood Development (ECD), renovating and uplifting local crèches to provide young children with a safe, nurturing space to learn and grow.

“Early Childhood Development has always been close to both my heart and that of Kim Griffith-Jones, our project manager,” shares Tracy.

“Our latest initiative to revamp Lusana Crèche is the fourth ECD project we’ve undertaken and seeing the transformation first-hand is beyond rewarding.”

Tracy says the impact of community support over the years has been nothing short of inspiring.“ The generosity from businesses and individuals has been truly humbling. Every act of kindness, every donation. and every helping hand has played a role in shaping young futures and we are deeply grateful.”

Tracy adds, “With a strong commitment to education and community upliftment, Hearts in Hands continues to build not just schools, but brighter futures, one child at a time.”
