As the proud owner of Emmanuel Funerals, Jeanette Ball leads with compassion and strength. Taking over the family business isn’t just about continuing a legacy, she says it’s about honouring it with deep purpose and unwavering responsibility.
Jeanette stepped into the leadership role at Emmanuel Funerals after her mother, the founder, stepped back. She says this transition challenged her professionally and mentally.
“I had to navigate the pressure of expectations, the fear of not being ‘ready enough’, and the reality of learning the business inside and out. What carried me through was my deep belief in the purpose behind our work and the support of my family and team,” she expresses.
Inspired by her mother’s example, she learnt at an early age the impact the funeral services have in the community. Over time, she realised her deep sense of empathy and love for people meant that she could pursue a career in the business. She makes sure that she stays true to her foundation.
“I’m not driven by titles or status, but by the impact I make in people’s lives. I’m hands-on, heart-led, and fully committed – because for me, business isn’t just about success, it’s about meaning, trust, and being there when it counts most.”
Jeanette says that being successful means finding the right balance does not come easily.
“I’ve learned that taking care of myself allows me to care for others. I set clear boundaries when I can, making intentional time for my husband, family and close friends,” she adds.
She loves travelling with her husband, it is their way of recharging and creating special memories together. Even with a busy schedule, she makes space for those moments because they keep her grounded and joyful.
