December is a season of giving and celebrating. A time to pause, reflect and make a tangible difference not just in the lives of our own families but also in the lives of those who need it most.
Today, 3 December, Footprints 4 Sam is putting South Africa on the map and will be celebrating #GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement that has inspired millions worldwide to give back. This powerful global initiative, which raised over $3 billion for charities in 2023, is more than just a day; it’s a call to action for every South African to channel kindness, generosity and community spirit into meaningful change.
“#GivingTuesday is celebrated globally, it is a powerful reminder that the true spirit of the season lies in acts of generosity and in embracing our common humanity, especially at a time where the word itself feels a little heartbroken,” explains Melissa Platt, Sam’s mum and the co-founder of Footprints 4 Sam
“Through GlobalGiving, a global nonprofit platform that connects NGO’s all over the world, all donations made to Footprints 4 Sam on this special day will be matched in dollars, and will go towards the Trust’s six initiatives that support underprilvileged children and their families living with a a life limiting illness, as well as the incredible health professionals that tirelessly care for them.”
Global Giving’s 2024 #GivingTuesday campaign will start on 7am SA Standard time 3 December and will last 24 hours, to 6.59am SA Standard time on 4 December
