It’s @angosturaza ’s 200th anniversary, and we’re celebrating with the Old Fashioned, a cocktail that has truly stood the test of time.

In the early 19th century, a cocktail was simply a balanced blend of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters – no frills, no garnishes, just pure, unadulterated pleasure. As bartenders began to explore new ingredients and techniques over the decades, cocktail culture became more elaborate. Amidst all the innovation, the Old Fashioned remained an oasis of simplicity. As a testament to its timeless allure, patrons desiring its traditional flavours would request their libation to be crafted 'the old-fashioned way,' which is how it got its name.
Nowawdays, the Old Fashioned has seen a resurgence, and it’s not just a nostalgic revival. Bartenders have embraced this iconic cocktail, adding their own creative touches while honouring its original essence. What better way to toast Angostura’s bicentennial than by enjoying a cocktail that’s as enduring as their bitters?

Old Fashioned Ingredients:
60ml whiskey
1 sugar stick
2 dashes ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
1 dash ANGOSTURA® orange bitters
Orange peel
Ice

Method:
Build in a rocks glass. Stir with ice to blend the ingredients and chill the drink. Add more ice and garnish with a long orange peel.

Thirty years ago, @janicebenecke was diagnosed with germ cell cancer. Fourteen years later, she found a lump on her breast. Today, in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she celebrates being cancer free for 14 years and shares her story to inspire hope and encourage movement!

At 64, Glenwood’s Janice is like dynamite. Nothing can stop her drive as marketing and events coordinator for the PinkDrive and its in-house campaign, More Balls Than Most, where she dedicates her life to promoting awareness and early detection and screening for gender-related cancers. Her passion is fueled by a 16-year-long battle with cancer, a devastating loss, and her own will to live hard and save lives.
