Share the love and bring joy this Christmas

With the festive season fast approaching, South Africans have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children. The Santa Shoebox Project (SSP) team are already hard at work collecting boxes for underprivileged children and encourage your support.

In keeping with this year’s theme ‘Share the Love’, donors have the option of duplicating an item in their Santa Shoebox giving underprivileged children the opportunity to experience the ‘joy of giving’ for themselves by giving the duplicated item to a friend or family member,” says SSB chief executive officer, Deb Zelezniak.

“For the past 16 years, the Santa Shoebox Project has been bringing joy to over one million children throughout South Africa and Namibia and the impact is tangible,” says Deb Zelezniak, CEO of the Santa Shoebox Programmes (SSP), which is comprised of four initiatives – Traditional Santa Shoebox, Virtual Santa Shoebox, Santa Shoebox Legacy and Kidz2Kidz.

Santa Shoeboxes contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing. This year, in addition to the duplicate item provided by the public, Book Dash will be including two books – one for the recipient and the other for them to gift to someone else.

TO SHARE THE LOVE FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

• Visit www.santashoebox.org.za and register as a supporter
• Pick a convenient drop-off point.
• Pledge a shoebox by selecting one or more recipients by name, age and gender.
• Pint your QR-coded shoebox label.
• Decorate and fill your shoebox according to the guidelines on the website (clue: PEP is your one-stop-shop for all eight components needed).
• Drop your shoebox off at your selected point on the designated date.

If gifting a box is not feasible, you can still show your support and volunteer your time at one of the many Santa Shoebox drop off points around the country.
