Book worms should not miss the iLembe Book Festival. Themed; Our Time, Our Stories, Our Voices, the  festival will incorporate creative writing workshops, visits to local schools – to gift books and encourage reading and writing – book discussions, one-on-one author sessions, book launches, book sales, a poetry session and a children’s programme that features a variety of events including story time and sing-along sessions. If you’re an aspiring model, don’t miss Roberta Alessandri’s Modelling Courses for girls aged between 11 and 18. They’re designed to help promote self-esteem and confidence, and teach the art of beautiful posture, ramp modelling, make-up looks, fashion, style and public speaking and more. You can choose to join a class once a month on the first Saturday of the month from February to November, or you can participate in a weekly class every Saturday from February to end June. German music duo Milky Chance are returning to South Africa this month on a whirlwind Living In A Haze tour that sees them stopover in Durbs for an afternoon of alfresco music. The popular indie-pop band will be supported by Canadian duo Neon Dreams, who are also no strangers to the South African music scene. Catch them, and a still-to-be-announced final opening act, live on the uMphafa Field at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday February 18 between 11am and 6.30pm. Tickets are priced from R495. Join Project Rhino for their Masked Ball for Conservation at the stunning Capital Zimbali Resort in Ballito. It might be a little further from our doorstep but we think it will well be worth the drive and cause. Plus you get to dress in your finest and don your most enchanting mask, while supporting the Pinetown-based organisation’s determination to eliminate rhino poaching, in an effort to secure the white and black rhino populations of KZN. Guest speakers include adventure athlete Ryno Griesel and Michael Charton from Inherit SA, who specialises in human connection through story. Entertainment includes music by Qadasi & Maqhinga, ballroom dancing, a fashion show supported by Karen-Monk-Klijnstra, a live auction and more. Project Rhino brand ambassadors, former Springbok and Sharks captain Keegan Rhys Daniel and Jawbone Brand Experiences CEO Sven Reinertsen, will be there too.
